What if I Break my Pampered Chef Stone?
I'm not the best direction reader...and sometimes I just CHOOSE to ignore directions.
The directions for Pampered Chef Stoneware items state, "Do not place dense, frozen meats on the stoneware. Thaw them first."
Well, this dense, frozen piece of meat (me) put a frozen Jennie O turkey roast on the flat rectangular stone in the oven, and as a result, I now have TWO flat rectangular stones.
Lesson learned: DON'T PUT FROZEN STUFF ON THE STONEWEAR IN THE OVEN.
The heat of the stone, combined with the cold of the food, causes some natural phenomenon (I never WAS good at science, so I don't know the real term) that cracks the stone.
Also keep this fact in mind when contemplating ANY temperature change with your stoneware...immersing straight from the oven into a tub of icy water will surely cause it to break.
The good thing is, however, that Pampered Chef has a very liberal return policy. I simply have to take a very small piece of my broken stoneware, with a copy of the receipt, and send it in to Pampered Chef. They will replace it free of charge...no matter the reason that it broke.
Warranty on stones is 3 years; contact your Pampered Chef representative for details on where to send the chunk of the stone, or if you need an additional copy of your receipt.
